Nurture Your Nature at the JCC
JCC LGBTQ'sThe LGBTQ department was one of the first two program areas developed at the JCC. When the JCC as a whole considers its expanding community, creating a safe, inclusive space for LGBTQ issues and people is an essential part of what we do. All though JCC programs are open to everyone; this department is especially designed for the LGBTQ community.

The LGBTQ program includes a blend of social and cultural programs designed especially for the needs of our constituents. We combine monthly groups targeting Queer Youth, Yeshiva Alum, those seeking a spiritual connection, and men over 40 with special events celebrating Gay Pride, Jewish & Secular holidays. We also debut feature films highlighting the LGBTQ experience often through a Jewish or Israeli lens. We have been expanding out LGBTQ programming to include singles' programs, walking tours, writing classes, life coaching workshops, panel discussions of relevant issues and mind-body classes. Our programs are appropriate for the old, young, partnered, single, child-raising, religious and secular. Our community has no entrance requirement.

Sarah Kay
Sarah Kay attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie New York and received a Bachelors of Arts with a double major in Religion and Urban Studies. After graduating from Vassar, Sarah spent two years working at City of New York/Parks and Recreation on the private staff of the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation. At Parks, Sarah ran a recruitment and retention program which recruited Ivy League students to government positions. By the year 2000, she was the youngest person holding a Director title in New York City government.

In 2002, Sarah returned to school and received a Master's in Public and Non-profit Management from the Wagner School of Public Service. In 2004, Sarah joined the staff at the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan as the Director of Community Programs. In April of 2006, with the full and unwavering support of the marketing, programming, and development staff Sarah organized buses which took 5,000 New Yorkers to Washington D.C. for the rally to Stop the Genocide in Darfur.
