Andrea M. Jacobs

Andrea Jacobs is a freelance consultant, educator and facilitator, with over 20 years experience working for change in secular and Jewish organizations. In 2011, Andrea joined the Ma’yan team to lead the expansion of Ma’yan’s Research Training Internship to communities outside New York City. She also works with Ma’yan staff on program and organizational development projects. Andrea is passionate about gender equality, supporting the leadership of women and girls, LGBTQ civil and human rights, anti-racism work, and generally bringing attention to issues of power, privilege, and oppression. She is a member of Yes…AND Playback Theater as well as a trained singer and clay artist and strongly believes in drawing on the arts to help individuals get new perspectives on “old” issues. From 2005 – 2012, Andrea was Director of Education at Keshet where she expanded and enhanced locally-based diversity training into a nationally recognized professional development program aimed at supporting Jewish organizations and educational institutions to become inclusive of LGBTQ Jews and their families. Andrea is also founding partner of Rally Point for Collaborative Change, which trains non-profit leaders in best practices for leading collaborative initiatives and working effectively across difference. Andrea holds a doctorate in Linguistics from the University of Texas, where her research focused on Jewish and Israeli women’s use of transgressive language practices as tools for social and cultural change.
