This class is for students of all levels, from true beginners to those with metals experience. Individual instruction allows you to work at your own pace on independent projects with supervision and guidance. Various metalworking processes will be demonstrated, including preparation, soldering, and polishing, and will develop your individual design techniques. The Glass Fusing Experience: Beginners
Melting glass to make artwork has been around for over 2000 years. You too will get hooked on this enduring art form in this four-week workshop. Learn to cut, layer, and stack glass that will be melted (fused) in a kiln. Learn the difference between a full fuse and tack fuse, and create pieces with color and depth that can only be achieved with this medium. Wax is a medium that lends itself to creating jewelry with a sculptural feel. Projects include bands, drop and stud earrings, and pendants. Creating Jewelry from Wax Models: Initial Letter Pendant
In these beginner-friendly workshops, learn how to sketch a design, carve, hollow, apply heat, create different textures and finishes, and other wax carving techniques. You will make a wax jewelry model, take it to a caster to have a mold made and the metal casting done, and then have it polished.
