Designated as a national monument by President Clinton, it was purchased by New York State for $1 to be used for the public benefit. Join us for a private walking tour of the island, learn about the history, and discover the beauty of this quiet, idyllic spot, just a short ferry ride away from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Meet at the Governors Island Ferry, which departs from the Battery Maritime Building, 10 South Street, corner of Whitehall Street in Lower Manhattan. Pre-registration required. Bring water, snacks and sunscreen. Tour is 90 minutes of walking and standing. Wear comfortable shoes. (more)REGISTER
