What a nice surprise it was for me to be greeted by them in my office this morning! Many thanks are due you…for your tireless effort in making this happen. This is a gift that I assure you will be serving a deeply felt need by our families. The difference it will make in the life of a hospitalized family cannot be measured, and on behalf of them I wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your team's commitment, time, and generosity of spirit. You have touched our hearts. We are so grateful.

Since our doors opened in 2002, each Shabbat we share the JCC with underserved children from all over NYC as part of our commitment to those who do not have access to the kind of facilities we enjoy every day. Our partners include Homes for the Homeless, the Children's Aid Society, Achilles Kids, Baby Basics NYC, New Heights NYC, The Urban Dove and New York Cares. We value the relationships that have been nurtured with these important organizations that serve the most vulnerable in our community.

Through the ACES program the JCC provides full tuition assistance for after school classes to students who demonstrate economic need AND show effort and improvement in school. Our wide range of after school classes include sports, ceramics, and robotics, just to name a few, and enrich the lives of the students who attend them. Guidance counselors and principals from the local public school with which we partner, select the students who participate in the program. Every other week teens from the community gather at the JCC for a few hours to cook and then deliver delicious and nutritious hot meals for women residing at the local B'nai Jeshurun (BJ) Homeless Shelter. Working with a professional chef, they cook everything from chicken soup to dessert. While the soup is simmering, students explore and debate Jewish approaches to tzedakah and engage in conversation with guest speakers from social service organizations throughout the city.
